The Jabiru is the biggest water bird in Costa Rica, but unfortunately it has become endangered specie. It can still be seen looking for food, with other birds like the Ibis, storks or spoonbills, in lagoons and mangroves of the North such as Palo Verde, Caño Negro or Corral de Piedra. It nests in tall trees such as the tower tree (Schizolobium parahyba)
